Saltwater Picnic Co.

Selling the picnics themselves.

Saltwater Picnic Co. makes picnic rugs - a lovely product with two unglamorous marketing problems. Is it worth the money? And what happens when it inevitably gets filthy?

Rather than answer those with earnest product videos, we made two short comedy TVCs that smuggle the selling point in behind the joke.

The first - stain-proof, life-proof, disappointed-mum-proof, tackles durability. A young bloke sits in a laundromat, anxiously watching the machine, intercut with flashbacks of the picnic that got the rug into this state: mates spilling every imaginable thing across it.

The second, "Leveraging your ROIs through picnics," is a straight-faced parody of a retro finance infomercial. A sleazy salesman pitches the rug as a serious financial asset, a cost analysis against two nights at the bar, and a trend line where "good times had" climbs while the onboarding cost stays flat.
